Legether Hill lived a full and beautiful life …She was a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, a single mother, a grandmother, a mother again, a great-grandmother …An auntie, a cousin, and a friend …She loved and was greatly loved in return.
She worked hard most of her life from being a waitress, a cook, a restaurant manager — to going back to school and working for non-profit organizations like DCS as an administrative assistant; to working at the IRS doing taxes; or working nights at hospitals; office buildings; or wherever doing custodial work just to make ends meet …
She was knowledgeable, she was smart and funny, and she was loyal to her children far beyond what words could say.
She not only raised five children of her own to adult-hood safely, gracefully, and with many memories of joy, love, and stability. But once that was through, she took over motherly duties for nine more children to raise until the age of 18. However impossible the odds, however empty her pockets, or whatever forces tried to stand in her way – through it all, she survived it, and so did we…And with all due respect, if all of us would have just listened to the things she said, we’d all be a lot better off. FACTS!!!
She leaves behind four children, Elizabeth, Dwan John and her baby girl ,Toni . She joins a daughter who left before her, Tonya.
Her second baseball team she came to bat for and raised as her own; six from birth and 3 close enough to birth, there’s no line – Von, Amerrintha, Latoya, Triuana, Ebony, Tidel, De’Angilo, Laniya, and Antonio.
She also leaves behind her two younger sisters, Jesse and Bonnie; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, step-children, God-children, children who claimed her as their mom, friends and loved ones she loved for 7 decades.
